Kilmainham Gaol! (Jail) & Visited Levis School!!

Today, I had to get up very early because we were all going to go visit Levis school we think he would go to next year in August. We got up at 7:30 AM. We went to Levis school. We walked there because it was only 15 minutes away. On the way there, there was this cool painting of R2-D2 on a metal box on one street. It was really cool!

Levis school is called I.S.D. or the International School of Dublin. We got to his school too early, so we walked a block down the road and ate breakfast at a place called Sister Sadie's! The food was very good. Me and my mom got a dish with toast that had hummus on it, and 2 eggs on it. (with avocado) It was really good!

Delicious breakfast!!
After we finished breakfast at Sister Sadies, we walked back to Levis school. We went in and the principle of the school gave us a tour of the school. The school was small, and it only had 50 students! It was very unique. They did use the International Baccalaureate approach. They had a reading area and a hall of classrooms.

After we visited all of the class rooms, we left ISD. We got a cab, and we were going to go visit the Kilmainham Gaol! (Gaol, in Ireland, means Jail) We got to Kilmainham Jail, and there was a long line. We had to wait in line for about a half an hour, then we got in. It was 11:09, and we were booked for the next tour that was at 12:15. Luckily, there was a cafe, and a tea room, and a whole area for us to hang out until it was time for our tour. We went up to the cafe, where I got a chocolate croissant, and a  cappuccino. When it was 12:15, we went down and started our tour.

The Jail was really cool! Our guide told us about the Irish Revolution in 1916. That was how easter sunday was created. The Irish were fighting for independence, and 14 people were asassinated because they led the revolution, and they did not have a trial. The jail held some important people that were part of the 1916 revolution. The jail was really cool looking. It was really old, and made of limestone, so it was colder than the outside. The cells had one tiny window, and the hallways were very scary. Here are some pictures of the Jail.

Cool Cell Door!
Easy access to all of the cells.
Spooky Hallway!!

Outside of the Jail
There was a time where all of the potatoes that people were growing were dying in the ground, so people could commit a crime just to go to jail. It was an opportunity to have a roof over their head and food. A lot more people were committing crimes to get into jail, but the jail realized what was happening. To stop this, they made the conditions in the jail more hard, so people would rather stay out on the streets than go to jail.

After we visited the Kilmainham Gaol, we got a cab and started to head back to Fitzwilliam Square. On the way back, the cab driver dropped me off by St. Stephens Park so that I could walk to Waltons School of Music to practice piano. I rented a room for an hour again. This time I was in room #9, not room #2. Room #9 was up a lot of stairs, and had a really good view. I took pictures of the practice room and the view!

After I practiced for an hour, i walked down all of those stairs and paid 10 Euros for the room. I returned the key to the room and started to walk back to my house. I knew how to get back without a map so I walked back and it took about 20 Minutes. We had dinner at 5:45. We had spaghetti and meatballs. My Oma made some bread which was really cool! I had coconut water as usual. Tomorrow, I am going to St. Andrews College, which is going to be my new school next year.  Here are some pictures we got from the Jail!
