Mom in Glasgow / Edinburgh Trip!

Friday March 6:

Today my Mom flew into Glasgow. I met up with my marketing group in the morning so that we could work on our presentation that we had to give next week. We met in the library for about 3 hours and worked on our presentation, then I walked home to do laundry. I did a load of laundry and then took a shower and later met up with my mom and we drove to have dinner at a nice Indian restaurant called Obsession of India.

The food was very delicious, I got garlic naan bread with my meal and we had papadums as well. After we had dinner we went to a massive Tesco to go on a shopping trip. My mom bought me some fruit and other stuff for my place. I got a ton of strawberries because I make a lot of smoothies.

The next day was Saturday and I worked on my Celtic Civilization essay in the morning and around 3 PM my mom and I went to William Cafe for lunch. It was a really cute cafe, here are some pictures:

I got scrambled eggs on toast with a side of bacon and my mom got a tasty mushroom soup and a super salad that had beats, greens, and avocado. It was a delicious meal, I also got a berry smoothie. Then we drove around downtown to see if we could find a store to buy some postcards but we just ended up driving to Costco to check it out before our Concert. I have never been to the Costco in Glasgow but it was huge inside, and luckily they had the shin noodles that I like and I got like 18 of them. Heres some pictures of the Costco, it was packed:

We were going to a Halsey concert and got a perfect parking spot in the parking garage. It was a windy night but we finally got into the venue and headed to our seats. We were quite early and Halsey came out on stage around 9 PM. The concert was really good and her set was long, probably 2 hours or longer. There were a ton of people standing but we had pretty good seats. Here are some pictures I took with my good camera of Halsey:

The concert got done around 11:15 PM so we drove back to my place and I took my Costco stuff inside.

Sunday, March 8:

I woke up at 10:15 AM because my Mom and I were driving to Edinburgh today to meet up with Boan and hang out. It took us about 1 hour to drive there on the M8. Once we got there we parked and my Mom went to have lunch with a friend and Boan and I went to walk around Princes street. First, we had lunch and Nando's and got chicken sandwiches which were very good.

We went into a ton of stores like Footlocker and Size and we went to this one department store called Harvey Nicholas which was basically like a Brown Thomas in Dublin but much larger and had all the fancy brands like Gucci, Versace, etc. We looked around and Boan really wanted to get this Off-White jacket. We continued to walk around and I got a coffee at this Costa Coffee that was right in the middle of this park / Square.

We walked back to Boan's place and hung out there for a few hours. Boan was practicing the guitar and I heard a part that sounded really cool and decided to record him playing it and I turned it into a cool beat using Ableton. After a couple hours my Mom met up with us at Boan's place and we tried to figure out where we were going to eat dinner. I texted Rosie to see if she wanted to meet with us for dinner and we picked a place near to where she was. I made reservations at a Vietnamese restaurant called Vietnamese house restaurant. My Mom, Boan and I walked there around 6:10 PM and got there around 6:30 and Rosie met up with us a few minutes later.

It was so nice to see Rosie and have Boan and my Mom there it was like a mini IB squad meet up. We talked about a lot of stuff like how we were liking Uni. We had a fabulous dinner and I got a spicy beef and noodle dish. Rosie and Boan got Pho. I had a rainbow drink for dessert which was very interesting but tasty. We said goodbye to Rosie and my Mom and I drove back to Glasgow. Pretty dope weekend!

Glasgow Gang!!

Feb 28:

The 28th was Thursday. In the afternoon I went into the city center to go pick up Molly from the bus stop. We were suppose to go see Lana Del Rey in concert but she cancelled because she was sick.

Molly arrived around 8:30 PM then we went back to my room and hung out. The next day we went back into town to grab some burgers at this place called Bread Meats Bread. We also got milkshakes which were very good.

It has a really cool interior with a ton of Christmas type string lights all over. It was raining outside after we were done eating but we walked to Cineworld to watch the new harley quinn movie called Birds of Prey. The tickets for the time we wanted to see were in these crazy 4D seats that shake all around in accordance to whats happening in the movie, similar to the DBox seats at celebration cinema in Grand Rapids. The movie was pretty good, very entertaining however I still like marvel movies better >:).

We also walked around in the St Enoch center which is basically like a huge mall like Stephens Green shopping Centre in Dublin. We found this really cute stuffed animal Totoro.

We also walked down Buchanan street which is basically this huge long street like Grafton street but longer with a ton of shops. Molly went on a bit of a shopping spree and got some clothes.

We went into WHSmith also to look for some books. Also Molly brought over a book I got in Dublin called the handmaids tale which will hopefully be the 3rd book I read in 2020.

After our huge adventure day we went back to Firhill and watched this new Netflix show where basically there are like 12 guys and girls and they get to know each-other without seeing eachother. They are in different rooms when they are talking to each-other and the premise is basically taking how good somebody looks out of the equation and they end up proposing to one another and THEN they get to finally see each other. Its a pretty crazy show and seems quite unrealistic because people are proposing to each-other in like the 2nd episode of the show which is only like 5 days into this whole experiment.

Also apparently I had a face mask I never had tried so we had to try that out.

The next morning we went to Glasgow Central Station and Molly got her train to London.

March 1st:

Today was sunday and it was my birthday so I decided to go back into town to buy myself some candles and other random stuff.

I went to this candle shop I found called Isle of Skye candles and got 2 candles. Then I went to H&M and got a plain light brown comfy hoodie for like 18 pounds. The inside of the store had these crazy cool lights as seen in the picture above. Next I went to Hard Rock Cafe to get some foooooood.

I saw this burger that had gold on it so I had to get it:

It was a good burger but to be honest the burgers at Bread Meats Bread were much better. They did have really good strawberry lemonade that had basil in it that was very delish. After getting candles and a hoodie and food I went to tesco just to buy some mango juice and some cold brew coffee, then I headed back to my room and watched The Big Short which is about the 2008 housing market crash. Probably the third time ive watched that movie in like 2 years. Got a ton of birthday messages which was nice and some money from my dad which I immediately put into my Acorns account because Investing Gang and there happens to be a sale on Stocks at the moment because of the coronavirus 😎.

Berlin Blog!

June 22:

Today we traveled from Belgium to Berlin. Once we got to Berlin, we walked around a bit and we went to visit a statue of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels who were the authors of the Communist Manifesto of 1848.

We then found a nice park to sit in right next to the Altes museum which is very beautiful.

June 23:

Today, in the morning, Pierce, Bikem and I all walked down to see the east side gallery which is an open gallery of pieces of art that are painted on this long wall. The wall is 1,316 meters long in total and has a lot of art on it.

Next we walked to a park that Bikem knew about. It was very hot that day and there was a huge market next to the park also. There was this mini arena that we found where a guy was street performing for the people who were watching. There were many musicians and people performing in random places in the park. We sat there for a while to hang out.

June 24:

We went to a large park today and visited the Beethoven-Haydn-Mozart Memorial. It is a memorial to those classical composers and was commissioned by Kaiser Wilhelm II.

We also went to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe which are 2,711 columns that form a maze-like structure.

We walked through the park some more and also we went to the Soviet War Memorial Tiergaten. It commemorates 7,000 of the 80,000 Soviet soldiers who died during the Battle of Berlin in April-May of 1945.

More pictures from the park:

June 25:

Today we decided to have a beach day, so Bikem and I researched to find the beach that we wanted to go to and we decided to go to a place called Krumme Lanke. It is located in the South-West of Berlin. It was super hot out that day. It took us a 1 hour train ride to get to the location and then we found a place and set up. Eoghan and I walked further down the beach and found this awesome spot where there is a tree right over the water and you can climb it and jump into the lake.

We spent a while there jumping off of the tree into the water and swinging on the ropes into the water. Later that evening we took the train back home.

Here is the latest Berlin video:
