Rock of Cashel, Kilkenny Trip!!! (With Stephanie!!)

Today is Sunday, and now that Stephanie is here we were going to go to Rock of Cashel Sunday. Rock of Cashel is a huge castle in County Tipperary. Yesterday, Stephanie and my Mom rented a car that we could use to drive to the Rock of Cashel today. This morning, I set my alarm for 7:00 AM, and we left around 8:00 AM. It takes about 2 hours to drive to the Rock of Cashel. I packed some spanish so I could study in the car.

Once we got to the Rock of Cashel it was around 10:00 AM. It took us a while to find the parking, but once we did, we parked and went up to the castle. There were these cool rocks on the outside of the Rock of Cashel and Me and Levi were able to climb them, and you could see a bit over the wall into the inside where the castle was.

Once we got our tickets and walked past the wall surrounding the Rock of Cashel, we could actually see the building in the middle. It was not really a castle, but it maybe could be described more as a church. You can decide what to call it, but once we walked in, it was right in-front of us.

Me and Levi were the first ones inside, and we quickly went inside of it, and ran around the outside. There was a graveyard behind the building, and it was really cool looking inside. The dome in the middle looked like a dome from a church, but there was no roof.

Here is the small graveyard right next to the Rock of Cashel.

We walked all the way around it, and got to see the back of the building. It was very cool looking, also because it had no roof that was cool also.

We went inside and it was kind of arranged in a + shape. There was a center, and 4 large areas from there that we could go and see. Some of them looked like they had tables, and there was a thing that looked like a fireplace.

This looked like a fireplace but I dont think it was.
Here is Me, Stephie, Levi and my Mom all at the Rock of Cashel.

After we visited the Rock of Cashel, there was an Abbey nearby that we were going to walk to. You could see it from the Rock of Cashel if you peeked through one of the windows in the wall. There was a pathway that took us right to the Abbey, and the Abbey was even more in ruins, I liked the Abbey more than the Rock of Cashel because we were able to climb all over it.

We walked down to the Abbey which required walking over some small grass hills. We basically walked all the way through the grass that you could see in the picture above.

This is the view of the Rock of Cashel while we were walking to the Abbey.
This is once we got there.

Once we got there, Me and Levi instantly found a ton of places that we could climb on the Abbey. It was in ruins so much there was a lot of places where the walls had fallen down, so there were rocks sticking out that we could use to climb up sides of the Abbey.

This is my favorite picture

We spent about 45 minutes at the old Abbey, and after that we walked back to our car, and decided to head to Kilkenny to get some lunch. The place that we found to eat was called Kyteler's Inn. We asked somebody some good places to eat and they recommended this to us. It was a bar and a restaurant in one. I ordered a small bucket of Chicken Wings, and some garlic bread with cheese on it.

When my food came, the Garlic bread with cheese looked so yummy so I started with that. I had never heard of putting cheese on garlic bread but I guess it is a good idea. It was very tasty.

My Chicken Wings were delicious also, and they came with a sauce I had never tasted before but I enjoyed. After that, I was very full. I was glad we ate here before going around Kilkenny. My Mom wanted to go see St. Canice's cathedral, and the 9th century tower. The tower was the best part. Stephanie went to the Kilkenny Castle, which My Mom, Levi and I had done the last time we were in Kilkenny, but we did not have time to go see this cathedral and the tower. We walked about 7 minutes to the Cathedral and went inside. There were a lot of tombs, and there was a really cool 3D Map of Kilkenny. We could see the Kilkenny Castle on the model where Stephanie was when we were at the Cathedral.

Kilkenny Castle, where Stephanie went.

Next, we went outside and went to go and climb the 9th century tower.

Me, Levi and Mama at St. Canice's Cathedral and Tower.

The Tower was taller than the Cathedral, and you could actually go inside and climb it.

We waited until some people came out then we went in to climb it. The steps were wooden and really steep, and they had handrails so we could get to the top. It was harder to get down than up. It was really far up, and at the top you could see every where, it was an amazing view. Here are some really good pictures I got from the top.

After that, we met Stephie back near our car, and went back to our car. We drove home from there. It was only about 80 minutes drive from Kilkenny. It was a really cool day and I'm glad that we got to climb that tower.
